colour week!

Andrea of Hula Seventy  clicked off colour week for me, I didn't know it was before I read her post, with some beautiful yellow images. I was thinking about how I will need to actually hook my camera up to play along, I'm awful at that, but then I flipped past the etsy homepage, after buying some Squid Destash and they had quite the collection of RED items. (How's that for a run on sentence?) I thought it would be fun to play with etsy a bit jump started by the colour of the day from Poppy Talk.

So I made a little treasury! I can't figure out how to share it like Kyla does (she has great Friday Finds /treasuries {she also originally featured the I love ranunculus print}) but here's the link: Yellow #SummerColoursWeek

and for my would have been Summer Colours YELLOW submission, look to the post below.

and now for some homemade pizza!

three things.

one. Welcome to readers! Hopefully some are stopping by from LA's latest and last post of Reader Appreciation. If you haven't checked out all the blogs who submitted, do so. There were nearly 200 people.

And now she's designing widgets all day! I can't wait to see the different designs. She's a pretty good widget designer. :)

two.
{last edit : don't mind the video it was actually the least obnoxious i could find. seriously}
Do you watch The Good Wife? You may recognize this song from the season finale. <3 nbsp="" p="">

three. Yesterday, after an amazing breakfast, Matt and I headed down to the River Roar. And drank some, ahem, delicious, Bud Lights and watched some very windy races. One had to be restarted three times. It does get kind of scary, but everyone was okay.

That's original, eh?

I love Alli's blog because it's beautiful. And because she shares cool Michigan themed things.

blogging sense

Most blogs aren't very good when they start, so I'm okay with that. -No Meat Athlete

Don't mind me, I'm going to jump around a bit here...

I've seen the word curated mentioned a lot recently. It's made me realize that I really need to rethink how I'm following blogs and what I'm starring, sharing and saving. I currently have 325 [on 4/17] (512 6/17, 392 6/24)  starred items. It's too much.

I'm trying to distinguish what has been starred for my personal bookmarking (a whole other beast) and what's been starred to share here. I went back to the beginning of my stars and cleaned it up to 204 since the last time I posted a "link love" post. [written on 4/17]

Erin Sunday had a good reminder post about following blogs with substance. I'm working on this.

Apparently that Sunday in April I got my starred items down to 64, so I've starred A LOT in the past two months. I've got a lot of work to do. Way too many hours (three?) of workclicking I got it down from 392 to 185!

I want to be a better blogger, but right now I think focusing on regular blogging and finding my original voice might be the most important think. After I feel like I've established that I'd like to revisit these links from Amy.

Katrina of Pugly Pixel had some great advicea love letter to new bloggers.

In the process of cleaning up my starred posts I followed five new blogs/tumblrs. I never put these right in to a folder though to make sure I definitely want to follow them.

I started nine new blog posts, instead of piling all my links int one, and updated several other posts I've started.
Of course now, I'm struggling with whether I want to keep clicking or if I need a break. Of course I want to the get the 185 down more! I suppose 178 will have to do for now. It's time to check at least a couple of thing in my real world to do list.

Cats have ankles don't they?

1.   The last thing I ate was Raisin Bran, breakfast of champions. Oh, is that Wheaties? Well I feel like a champion anyway.

2.  The next thing I'd like to eat is Lauren's  Baked Ziti and Summer Veggies but I think I'll be having salmon with quinoa and a few mixed greens. leftovers ftw.

3.  The best things catch me by surprise and then I'm thankfully reminded how beautiful the world is.

4.  Something that makes me supremely and utterly happy is when my kitties run around the house like maniacs, they just were and it makes me giggle, even though I'm always worried they'll break they're ankles on the stairs. Cats have ankles don't they?

5.  Sports are a staple in our house. Matt wakes up everyone with Sports Center, I'm currently watchinglistening to Wimbledon while blogging and actually missing football season. Hopefully we catch a few baseball games this summer.

6.  "I'll miss the boredom and the freedom and the times spent alone" Time to Pretend MGMT.

7.  Right now I am aggrivated with my neighbor and the annoying sounds of his edger scrapping sidewalk. Dude, chill out no one needs to care that much about their yard.

LITERALLY

I was working on another blog post and did a quick search for a Chris Trager LITERALLY video. I decided it was so good it LITERALLY  needed it's own post.

It's particularly funny because MY boss says, literally A LOT. I may count the times he says it one day and then send him this video. That would literally be the funniest thing ever. ;)

Happy, Happy Summer

We're welcoming summer here in mid-Michigan with a cloudy day. There is rain in the forecast, but finally, it FEELS like summer and here it is! So many days really do look like this:

Pure Michigan, Narrated by Woody. ;)

Inspired by the beautiful Lisa Leonard, I think I'd like to do a little a SUMMER TODO List!

Swim in a GREAT LAKE. DANCE in the rain. Have backyard BONFIRES. Stay up late and listen to a THUNDERSTORM. Take more PICTURES with my love. This is just a start... I'd like to read  What are you most looking forward to this summer?

Remember this link post that featured the beautiful image above. Well, I'm finally going through some starred posts that included the correct credit for the image.

VIA oh, hello friend (image via pottery barn, thanks beth c!)

Which reminds me, I'd like to share and use this flow cart about when to share a photo.
A pretty good reminder. I love that it looks like a chalkboard!

Today I Saw

Last summer I signed up to receive a postcard from Jill Wignall, the lovely lady behind Today I Saw. I seriously think this may have been one of the highlights of my summer.

So exciting new! Sign up quick because she's doing another mailing...
"some days I see something and say to Daniel 'That would make a great Today I Saw'. So I'm taking addresses for those days when I see something great and I happen to have 10 minutes spare to draw.
If you'd like to receive a postcard please send your name..."

Get on it.

Today's the DAY!

What day you ask? Why, Fill in the Blank Friday of course!

1.   The last movie I saw was something for Hell's Half Mile programming, "en coma" disjointed. Don't mind our... disjointed... website. They say they're working on it. If you're near Bay City the first weekend of October you should stop by. Lots of films for $5 each.

2.  I want to find the motivation I usually have in the mornings to get up and clean the house. clutter, clutter, clutter.

3.  Surprises are pretty exciting. I'd like to practice giving them more and maybe then I'd receive them more too ;).

4.  The best accessory is a genuine smile.

5.  My favorite warm drink is  coffee, black please. Tea when I'm sick. Carmel Latte when I'm looking for a splurge or big pick-me-up.

6.  My favorite cold drink is water, trying to drink more. I also enjoy the occasional bloody mary and margarita. I have a lemon grass martini in Traverse City last February. I wouldn't mind one of those. Oh, and you can't forget a good beer. This is an impossible question for me, can you tell?

7.  Currently loving my weekend: dinner last night, ribs, with some of my favorite people in the world, Friday's off and Matt's taking the afternoon off, then we head to Greek Fest tonight, tomorrow's my baby cousin's high school graduation party, then Matt's family on Sunday! Pretty good, eh?!

a teenage dream

Have you seen this, via A Cup of Jo? A proposal on the Golden Gate Bridge?!

Oh my god.

This is my teenage dream. Actually my teenage dream was to get married on the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. Every MARSH game we played it was the location I hoped to win. And why wouldn't it be... Leo & Chris hung out there, 98degrees sang there. But seriously, it stemmed from love of the city, have I told you San Francisco was the first city I fell in love with. I was seven.

Because you might not remember... I give you 98 DEGREES - Because of You

it's here!

So You Think You Can Dance is BACK for the summer!!! I waited until the top 20 were announced to do any posting, tryouts while not as obnoxious as American Idol still obnoxious. On Thursday while announcing they all performed in three dances each - one style group [contemporary, hip hop, etc], one all boys or girls, and the top 20 together.

This was my favorite dance:

Sonya. Surprise, surprise.

These are my favorite two dancers. Plus, I think the hip hop boys are strong, and I'm excited about the tapper!

Melanie & Sasha, contemporary
they dance together here to a Stacey Tookey routine.

RED locks & BOLD frames

I know I've been a bit sparse around these parts recently but... I'm here. Actually, this  happens to be post 175, and I think it's time for a bit of a redesign.

A certain someone wrote me a few haiku after I mentioned that I wish that I wrote them. This was my favorite:

"The Unbearable Cuteness of You
red locks and bold frames
i spot you from far afield
my day begins, anew

Thank goodness for his "questionable sanity...." because I think, my dears, I have a blog title for this here little charming spot of the blog world:

RED LOCKS AND BOLD FRAMES

Some hesitations because my hair is really strawberry blonde, unless I dye it in the winter, which I'm already planning to do next year!, and with summer here [fickle] and the sunny days that come with it, sunglasses & contacts will be reentering my life in a big way. I like this title though, I think it suits me. So here we go, come take a look:

Here are some things I hope to post about in the next 25 posts --

triathlon recap, how I am getting active now, goals for the rest of the month, cute cat pictures, gardening, cooking, more regular blog star sharing, a recap of my 25 before 26, So You Think You Can Dance favorites, all sorts of little bits of life, and for the 200th a GIVEAWAY!
