One year from today (the date, not the day) I will be marrying my best friend, my love. I am so, so geeked!
We'll be tying the knot here, the Bay City Country Club:
With Bryan & Mae to document the day.
Sometimes our day is the only thing I want to think, talk about, look for inspiration for and plan. I'll probably be sharing some of our planning process and lots of APW links.
Our next step is to talk food, invitations and flowers.
Get geeked along with me, won't you?! ;) 365 days

hotel v. country club
bay city country club:
cassandra + shane / allie siarto
mike + kendra / patrick hadley
the doubletree - bay city
melissa + aj / paul retherford
becka + bob / collier studios
we're currently waiting to hear back from both venues with some answers to our questions before we commit to either.
both are beautiful and have as many positives as the other.
that balcony in the ready room, the closeness to home, a downtown feel.
these things are making me lean towards the double tree.
but our preferred date is gone.
but we're flexible.
the balcony for our ceremony location, three separate areas for celebrating, a chef who is excited to create a seasonal menu and work with his clients.
these things makes me lean towards the country club.
but it's far away (20 minutes) and a country club with funny looking bathroom wall paper.
but there are fireplaces and a willow tree.

blanks + senses + links + insta
1. The best surprise ever would be if someone had invented a publicly available teleportation machine before this weekend and I could have stayed home and had a mostly relaxing yet productive weekend but also spent a couple of day eight hours away in Houghton with family. It mostly would have been the best surprise ever so that I wouldn't have stressed over the decision for weeks beforehand. I felt 50/50 the whole time.
2. I'm feeling a bit removed from memories so I'm having a hard time thinking of my most favorite memory .
3. The hardest, but most worthwhile thing I've ever done was moving to New York and being on my own for 18 months. It was hard because I was alone. It was worthwhile because I was alone.
4. The best part of my day is the downtime in the evenings when Matt and I get to hang out, sometimes we veg hardcore, sometime we make dinner together, but we're together laughing about something, usually the cats.
5. Something I like that most people don't is ranch dressing on my pasta & rice, no doubt.
6. Something I am willing to fight for is peace & quiet & calm in my home.
7. Something you might not know about me is my house had an ant infestation on the porch. It was the in the top 10 the bug guy has seen in 10 years and 3,000 houses. TOP 10.
good morning, these cups makes me nostalgic for new york.
Seeing: sunshine and a quiet house. thankful. the yellow pages that guiltily remind me i did not get a property line survey lined up for next week.
Making:
Watching: three episodes of Glee, earlier today. I think three is my max.
Hearing: songs in my iTunes, i'm trying to clean out the music I don't like.
Hearing: songs in my iTunes, i'm trying to clean out the music I don't like.
Quoting: 99% of life is mundane, so it's important to remember to enjoy the everyday. -Amanda's dad.
Anticipating: Matt getting home and deciding what to do with the rest of our day, out and about or lazing about. and then the rest of our weekend. I have a to do list to tackle.
Loving: this lazy day. i needed it.
Feeling: ready for a shower.
good afternoon, making the switch from coffee to beer on a holiday weekend.
elise's summer vacation book.
sheen is making jealous of summer foods that grows in (not even) June and not October!
beca of tumbleweeds will be featured on fab in two weeks, i can't wait!
Koubachi gives your plants a voice, I downloaded this app as soon as I discovered it! thanks swissmiss.
After reading this it was fun to see this Marc John's illustration a few blogs down. It's so true. I'm also basically allergic to "big talk too."
Um, yes: Win A Free Wedding!
There is some serious stamp love and developing going on out there.
This. Gorgeous lady. (bonus, a new blog to follow!)
Great cover. I was so proud to be supporting President Obama on my car that day. Reading Meg's reactions on twitter really brought it home too. (one reposted on the blog)
15 Great Tips for making a marriage last 15 years remember this gem too.
already prepping for the holiday season.
I've never paid for a photo app, but I'm excited to try out VSCO cam after Amanda Jane's recommendation.
I'm going to need to remember this. This is a great post about working with vendors. It annoys me to now end that there are only two Michigan vendors on A Practical Wedding, and both over three hours away. I mean there have to be vendors out there, close by, that align with a Pactical and sane wedding. Right?! I mean, I hope so. I certainly concerns me.... side track. So, I love that they end with:
And if you find a vendor that totally has APW values but doesn't know about us yet, do us all a favor and have them apply for the vendor directory! Trust me, we all want to know their details.
good day, spent the day reading blogs (the reader had gotten out of control once again) and posting links here.
the cats embraced the gloriously lazy day as well.

one day - the last post (for now)
I like weddings.
I picked out my dress style five years ago. I picked out my shoes five months ago. I picked out my photographer a year ago. but I don't have a ring. I do have a man. I bet he has a plan. I want to have plan. I worry every time I think about and start to plan one day, I ruin a bit of the special time that planning will be.
Since falling in love with Matt and watching our relationship grow my "one day" talk has ramped up. I tend to be half planning all of the time. I feel like maybe it's come across as I'm more excited about the "big party" than actually being married to Matt. and that's something I need to fix.
I told him the other day that I wanted to stop talking about it until it was actually time to plan because that would make it more special. I really can't wait, but I want to wait. I want to have every bit of excitement that comes with the planning. This is my declaration, my blog pledge, no more talking about any big parties or one day occurrences until there's a ring on it.

This post was also inspired by Rachel's Lessons: Lesson #91: Learn more about weddings and marriage and figure out why you want to get married. on it.{I'm putting Sex at Dawn: in my cart as you read. In the comments Jes said, "I talked to him seriously about it and told him I want to get married TO HIM and not just married to say I was married." This is so true. I dream of a wedding, not excessively, but I think it will be such a fun time for everyone. Matt recently quoted someone, everyone thinks their wedding's special, and really it's just another wedding. sad. The weddings I see and dream about are so much more. They really are special for everyone. I certainly hope mine, one day, can carry that.}
Lesson #92: Think about why you’re not married. {I'm 26. In thank the baby Jesus that I didn't get married young and to my first boyfriend. We might both be dead now. Then I was busy with school and living in New York and then moving home. I know why I'm not married. Honestly, I'm not sure I expected to find that person, the one that I would marry, in the ninth person I dated last year.}
and particularly Lesson #93: Don’t joke about weddings; talk about marriage!
yep this one applies too, Lesson #94: Just be patient.
Really, I don't need much more than this to make me happy.

In just a minute...
I'm going to get moving again. I'm dogsitting this weekend and Gdog and I took a rest after a trip to the park. 2 hr walk = 2 hr break makes sense right?!
I was also busy creating this on Vista Print. Thanks to a Living Social deal I got $116 worth of Train4Change gear for $44.81, and I ordered extra.
next Valentine's day? one day? so pretty, the sparkly love.
i feel this way sometimes. but i think it's the best part of my personality. sure it's burned me in the past but it keeps my heart light. i know i have people who i will love for the rest of my moments that make these momentary loves, lovely but inconsequential.
TINY ELEPHANT!!!
these images have been sitting on my desktop for a while now, thought I'd share.
I have no idea what their original sources are.
my momma and me visiting abe.
how cool are we?!

proposal idea
Engagement in Hay instead of hay I read day. And I had a brilliant dream, that I would be proposed to during a photo shoot, so the moment would be captured. Of course, now I would be suspicious and have in essence ruined the idea. boo me.

a girl without freckles
is like a night without stars / is like a blog without links.
still working on a title for this feature ya'll. but please, don't despair, your links are here. way more than last time, I starred more know I'd be sharing but then became overwhelmed with so many. How about "unnecessary but usually lovely distractions"?

YOU SHOULD: SAY GO. (seth godin) expect love (the frenemy). get lost (kelly rae). explore (on creature comforts projects galleries). learn to sew (LA). dream, definitely dream (katie daisy). manage your time (rachel wilkerson). pare it down so you don't look crazy (urban weeds). hope (neon gypsy).
TO MY HUSBAND: Going to bed angry - Fuck that weak ass shit. We’re gonna stay up and fight.
TO MY WIFE: Meat Loaf - If I happen to have my headphones on in the apartment and I appear to be having full body spasms, don’t worry, I’m just dancing to Meat Loaf.
someone recently found this post by searching for a girl with freckles and then i saw this image from dazzling luxury.
so there you go... isn't it lovely. {original source unknown please comment if known}

funk
Do you ever feel like you're just in a FUNK? I do. Right now. The thing that stinks the most is I'm completely aware of it and not sure how to get out of it.
What kinds of things do you do when you're in a funk and want to shake it? I just ate a bag of Grandma's Mini Sandwich Cremes, sooo yummy! I texted Matt, hope you're having a better day than me, subtext fix all my problems!, which in reality probably only succeeded in making him worry about me. I read a couple of blog posts. And admired these beautiful photos:

from Alec Vanderbloom. I want him to shoot my wedding, one day.
love this JUST MARRIED text, I'm inspired to add words to Valentine's Day garland.
Maybe I'll finish that tonight or soon.
Ok.
I feel better. Yay! Now to stay positive and out of my funk for the rest of the day/week/month. I've got things to look forward to, my second tri training workout, a Pure Romance party, more tri training (endorphins, right?!), bowling, a weekend with no plans other than to snuggle up with Matt and visit the grandparents at some point and time to clean. LIFE IS GOOD. Remember.
