Jar of Hearts - Christina Perri

This song came on this morning, and I was nearly in tears. Her  voice is so powerful. I love this song. Thank goodness Stacy Tucci shared her with the world.

the original dance:

Billy and Kathryn

Christina's live performance:

Allison and Neil

I promise this isn't becoming just a SYTYCD blog.

hello there

I've been scarce, no doubt.

Overwhelmed with the blogging world maybe. Unwilling to come down from our sweet little vacation, that could have been three days longer.

I'm here though. Thinking about where I want to take this blog and the blogs I read. Do I post these same thoughts every month?

I have posts in mind. Hopefully I'll get them to you soon.

You can see some of my favorite posts of the past here
You can see a variety of instagram/week in the life/summer shots here.

Finally, I'll leave you with my girls, Sasha & Melanie, the BEASTS of So You Think You Can Dance. I called it from the very beginning. This week is going to be so good.

This is kind of a heavy post, maybe you just want to listen to a nice song watch a fun dance (it looks sad, but it gets fun fast):

Melanie & Marco, NappTabitha & Napoleon  / my girls are holding strong!!!

In my reflective mood, I've been thinking a lot about this post and the things I left off. The things that I couldn't admit to myself or even see.

2010. losing my way through an absurd relationship
2009. finding a job in within 5.5 hours of home.
2008. finding a job and apartment in new york.
2007. finding a job in bay city.
2006. ending work at delphi. enjoying the summer, getting ready to travel with mom.
2005. being newly single.
2004. fighting for a doomed relationship.
2003. finding my first job.

Last June I said, " didn't realize for the past three springs i have been job hunting. or that this is my first fully employed spring of my 24 years. this is my first spring when big changes aren't taking place. i'm trying to find a balance of work, friendship and self."

Look at me, I thought I had it all figured out.

Do you remember the things you were worrying about a year ago? How did they work out? ...”  Dale Carnegie (via the messes i make)

I think maybe they didn't work out then, but every year I grow. I've definitely found my way through. I'm here and I can just be.

it's here!

So You Think You Can Dance is BACK for the summer!!! I waited until the top 20 were announced to do any posting, tryouts while not as obnoxious as American Idol still obnoxious. On Thursday while announcing they all performed in three dances each - one style group [contemporary, hip hop, etc], one all boys or girls, and the top 20 together.

This was my favorite dance:

Sonya. Surprise, surprise.

These are my favorite two dancers. Plus, I think the hip hop boys are strong, and I'm excited about the tapper!

Melanie & Sasha, contemporary
they dance together here to a Stacey Tookey routine.

One Month & Counting

I've been scarce. No real reason, haven't even watch tv all week. crazy. I held a baby today it was lovely, as was he. Five years and counting.

One month and counting - So You Think You Can Dance. I crumped for Matt yesterday. He didn't appreciate it.

It was amusing. This is fantastic.

Courtney & Mark, two of my favorites. And Sonya's choreography. swooon.

46:57 / pace 15:07

Yesterday I ran (jogged/walk) my first 5k. I finished in 46:57, at a pace 15:07. 8 weeks ago, I wasn't doing ANYTHING! If I can do it, get off my ass, you can do it.

(So You Think You Can Dance version, 67 days until the season premier!) When this song came on I was able to kick up my walking speed to the beat. Maybe if I'd just listened to this on repeat, I could have finished in 45 minutes. There's always next time! Because, that' the thing, now that I've started I NEED to keep it up.

I was able to run the race with a great group of women, my train4change mates. It makes a world of difference to have people cheering me on from the sidelines, and cheering my mediocre time. :) The slowest and the youngest of the group. More about them in an upcoming post and what this train4change thing actually is. 70 days until the triathalon!!!

I'm rounding out today's post with two giveaways:
one. Lomography from the Dainty Squid.
two. Organized Simplicity and Magnets from Lisa Leonard Designs.
