Ever since happiness heard your name, it has been running through the streets trying to find you.— Hafez (via blua) via cosmic ache
This reminded me of this song...
Happy Saturday! We're enjoying quite the lazy one, but we'll be off soon to get bbq & watch little pigs race. Still lowkey, but out of the house.

summertime
listening to Fresh Air and Audra McDonald (Porgy & Bess) performed summertime. the operatic style isn't really mine but it took me back to Fantasia's stellar performance:
Fantasia Barrino - Summertime - American Idol 2004
She was totally my favorite from the beginning!

dear weekend, you're nearly here.
1. Today is a great day because it's Friday! Last weekend we were away which was great, but I'm ready for a weekend at home. I hope to work in the yard and get on top of some house cleaning. Also bunches of relaxing but I may plan that into my weekend so I don't totally bum around.
2. Tomorrow I will clean the bathroom if I get up after Matt, make breakfast (bacon!), veg for an hour or so, weed flower beds for a few hours, wash floors, dust upstairs, maybe another hour of yard work, shower, VEG.
3. My favorite time of day is the evening because Matt and I are both home, usually, and we're together, eating something yummy and making fun of the cats and laughing.
4. Sometimes you just have to plan the crap out of your weekend even if all activities occur at home to ensure maximum productivity AND maximum couch potato-ing.
5. A song that I just can't get enough of lately is... well, here's the one I've been wanting to hear:
6. My favorite accessory is a good necklace, I'm usually wearing one, unless my top comes all the way to my neck. Also hair ties, 99% of the time I have one around my wrist.
7. My favorite thing about this week {so far} was serenading Matt in the car on the way home from dinner last night. It was pretty hilarious.
waiting for dinner at Cafe Zinc
Craving: bacon & pizza, things I've dreaming about all week and will be having this weekend
Seeing: a messy desk I need to tackle.
Smelling: oranges, mid morning snack.
Listening: Meg's 2011 Playlist

Quoting:
"Everything is flawed. Spending a lot of time on something is not going to make it perfect. Worrying about it and obsessing over it is not going to make it perfect." -Elise
Loving: Getting geared up for Send Something Good & Week in the Life
Feeling: Well, a bit of that malaise is still hanging on, but mostly I'm feeling optimistic for a productive and relaxing weekend.

Mindy Gledhill
You know that pretty Winter Moon album that's been floating around, well apparently she, Mindy Gledhill, doesn't just do Christmas music. lucky us!
I'm loving this song after hearing it on a DVRed episode of Bones last night.
And this one is just adorable as well. I'm swooning.

blogging + Christmas music
Sometimes when I'm not quite sure what to blog about I find myself wandering through posts I started way back when. There are around 70 or so and some are over a year old. It's a little bit of nostalgia, and I like it. Sometimes I'm able to develop them into post, other times they are just a thought that does quite go where I expected.
Back in September 2010 it was about finding my blogging voice, whether that's sharing a bit of what's been going on in my life (that's not my life, obviously, but I found it inspiring) or making sure you see these fun videos! I thought to myself, just because I'm late to the {blogging} party doesn't mean I can't have a great time. And I am, I'm quite enjoying myself.
And without further ado... let's get some Christmas music up in here!
It's that time of year when the world falls in love, every song you hear seems to say Merry Christmas, may your new year's Dreams come true.
And this song of mine in three quater time wishes you and yours the same thing too.

1,000 Ships - Rachel Platten
The sun is out now, shining bright, but today the first flakes of the coming winter season fell.
I saved sharing this video for that day. Doesn't the snow in the city look lovely?
Happy first snow friends.

three things.
one. Welcome to
readers! Hopefully some are stopping by from LA's latest and last post of Reader Appreciation. If you haven't checked out all the blogs who submitted, do so. There were nearly 200 people.

And now she's designing widgets all day! I can't wait to see the different designs. She's a pretty good widget designer. :)
two.
{last edit : don't mind the video it was actually the least obnoxious i could find. seriously}
Do you watch The Good Wife? You may recognize this song from the season finale. <3 nbsp="" p="">3>

three. Yesterday, after an amazing breakfast, Matt and I headed down to the River Roar. And drank some, ahem, delicious, Bud Lights and watched some very windy races. One had to be restarted three times. It does get kind of scary, but everyone was okay.

Train4Change -- Seahorse Triathlon 5k Playlist
I'm sitting here soaking my feet in Epsom's salts to sooth four blisters, one of which popped during my run and is now a very ouchy scab, and I thought it was the perfect time to do race recap. Then I realized that was quite a detailed process and I don't have the energy.
I did pull together my playlist to share, so here we go.

You can't go wrong with a little Adele.
I've wanted to post something sweet or profound or just lovely all day, but nothing has struck me. So, I'm stealing something from my faceybook. You can't go wrong with a little Adele. Until yesterday I hadn't watched the video, I just let it play in the background. You need to watch, seriously.

If I were a time of day, I’d be 7 pm.
If I were a planet, I’d be Earth.
If I were a sea animal, I’d be a whale, Killer or Blue.
If I were a direction, I’d be forward.

If I were a gemstone, I’d be a ruby
If I were a tree, I’d be a birch.
If I were a flower, I’d be a sunflower.
If I were a kind of weather, I’d be 75 degrees and sunny, with a light breeze.
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a piano.
If I were a color, I’d be orange.
If I were an emotion, I’d be happy.
If I were a fruit, I’d be a blueberry.
If I were a sound, I’d be laughter.
If I were a car, I’d be a VW bug, classic.
If I were a food, I’d be a caprese salad.
If I were a place, I'd be my backyard.

46:57 / pace 15:07
Yesterday I ran (jogged/walk) my first 5k. I finished in 46:57, at a pace 15:07. 8 weeks ago, I wasn't doing ANYTHING! If I can do it, get off my ass, you can do it.
(So You Think You Can Dance version, 67 days until the season premier!) When this song came on I was able to kick up my walking speed to the beat. Maybe if I'd just listened to this on repeat, I could have finished in 45 minutes. There's always next time! Because, that' the thing, now that I've started I NEED to keep it up.
I was able to run the race with a great group of women, my train4change mates. It makes a world of difference to have people cheering me on from the sidelines, and cheering my mediocre time. :) The slowest and the youngest of the group. More about them in an upcoming post and what this train4change thing actually is. 70 days until the triathalon!!!
I'm rounding out today's post with two giveaways:
one. Lomography from the Dainty Squid.
two. Organized Simplicity and Magnets from Lisa Leonard Designs.
993 % to goal . 50 kits . $54,594 . http://www.forjapanwithlove.com/
