So I have this blog.

And I haven't posted since March, 3, 2013.

And even that was a post I'd had saved in my drafts for months.

It was just a link a round up

which are easy enough.

I round up links on pinterest, in my email, sent to friends, saved to my pocket, occasionally posted to facebook or now on this. Not this blog here but this.cm.

But hi!

Maybe if I break radio silence I'll start sharing here more often.

this post was supposed to go up eight days ago, but then my grandma was in the hospital and priorities changed. priorities. i haven't been much of a blogger these past couple of months and i'm okay that. i'm loving reading my old favorite blogs and my newest favorite. i've been pinning more and that's fun. it's not even as dangerous as i thought it'd be. my love and i went on vacation. it was warm. my mum and i went skiing. life has happened, and it's been mostly really, very good.

i thought i might do a fill in the blank post again this week but Lauren and family are welcoming little miss Fern Winter. i wasn't so sure about the name Fern, not that it matters at all, but with the middle name Winter, well i just love them together. congrats!

so how was your week? i'm not sure where mine disappeared to, but i'm thankful it's the weekend! i need some sleep. i started reading The Hunger Games, and i've been reading it in to the late hours of the night. it's so hard to put down!

i'm debating whether i should invest some mulah in elise's blog 2.0 workshop. i got really geeked about the idea at first, but then i started to debate if learning wordpress design would actually improve my blogging direction (skills, regularity. "mission"). i need to keep considering this. i need to decide if i want to actually be a blogger or just enjoy blogs from an outside perspective.

i am on pinterest. finally. i played around with it tuesday night. i'm excited to use it collect all the blog posts and beautiful images i've bookmarked over the last two and half years, or so, in a more visual way. and also revisiting those bookmarks to see what may be projects i'll actually do! do you pinterest? is pinterest a verb? have you found lots of images with no original source? in my first 10 minutes i found two.

BASIL. PESTO. HANDMADE. ah, kinfolk. you're delicious. it's far, far to long before we have any basil that looks like that that can be made into pesto. i've only ever made pesto in the food processor, so i'm kind of excited to try this.

1.   The last thing I ate was delicious leftover pasta that Matt had made last night. It's a variation on his chicken, sundried tomatoes, artichoke pasta that I was so afraid to try the first time and now I adore. He subbed sausage for the chicken because that's what we had. mmm mmm mmm.

2.   The last song I listened to was the last song on this playlist from meg. I've listened to this quite a few times. My favorite song of course is this.

3.  Using the letters in my name I can spell ate, take, at, eat, teak. KATE

4.  If I had to dress in one color for the rest of my life I would pick  probably blue or black. maybe purple..

5.  If you were to look in my bag right now you'd find wallet, gum, iphone, notepad for lists, receipts and coupons, lists, a ticket from the Grand Rapids Griffins game, touch screen gloves from Matt in the best limey mustard color.

6.  When I finish filling in the blanks I'm going to go home for the weekend! Ah, the first full week of work back after a long break is so rough. Ready for this weekend!

7.  My all time favorite song to dance to is oh probably something very 90's and very high school dance-y.

blogging + Christmas music

Sometimes when I'm not quite sure what to blog about I find myself wandering through posts I started way back when. There are around 70 or so and some are over a year old. It's a little bit of nostalgia, and I like it. Sometimes I'm able to develop them into post, other times they are just a thought that does quite go where I expected.

Back in September 2010 it was about finding my blogging voice, whether that's sharing a bit of what's been going on in my life (that's not my life, obviously, but I found it inspiring) or making sure you see these fun videos! I thought to myself, just because I'm late to the {blogging} party doesn't mean I can't have a great time. And I am, I'm quite enjoying myself.

And without further ado... let's get some Christmas music up in here!

call to my readers

Hi all, (twelve of you!)

I was answering LA's four questions for her Reader listings and I realized: I have no direction. I blog about random stuff. (Not that I'm apologizing.) The five words I picked as my "theme" were, lists, love, nerd, wishful, random. So what do you like? What would like to see more of? Less of? The call is out... give me feedback. I have readers, so I must be entertaining some of you... I'd like to become a better blogger for you!

oh yeah, i think this is a problem. i've got it down to 10 things i want to post to my facebook, but i've just posted and don't want to overwhelm the stream. or things i might blog about shortly. plus i have an email full of links to save on my home computer. (have i heard something about google bookmarks?) or music to download and oatmeal cartoons i heart but i'm not sure what to do with. will the change my life? NO. but some little part of me says they will. i think this means i'm a google reader hoarder. i'm suddenly going to start blogging because of this, this inspired me SO much... yeah.

sometimes i think life would be better. at least different. i think i would be a good letter writer. i would have to be. and i'd have to learn to be a good phone talker.

i had a thought on friday. what if instead of wishing i was different somehow i write about who that girl would be? how she would live. how we would be different and the same. it'd be good to write again.

Here I am again!

After a nearly five month hiatus I *hope* that I'm here to stay. I've been obsessed with these crafty, pretty, beautiful blogs that inspire me to be and make crafty, pretty and beautiful things! Also in searching for that link it crossed my mind that maybe I should move my blog to tumblr. That way as I find things I love I'll post them more readily. maybe.

Where I've been: There have been various times I wanted to blog in the time since I last did and a lot has to do with all the changes that have happened. I wanted to chronicle my job hunt & finding the balance of summer fun. I wasn't a very exciting job hunter. I just put my nose to the grindstone every day and did my thing, pretty boring. It worked though and I found a job! I love it! Delta College really is a fantastic place to work. I thought about blogging that, but it is really just a job (no matter how fabulous it is!) and once I got into my routine it wasn't that exciting. Now here it is three months after the successful job start and ... oh wait! There's something else I could have written about. I BOUGHT a house, a house! After looking at something like 30 houses I found the right one. Now I'm there and I'm getting settled in. I might retrospectively blog about painting and settling in.

A New Leaf?

I just deleted my last two posts because all they were were random thoughts on why I'm not very good at blogging. Well today, finally, I'm turning over a new leaf, I'm ready to write this b-l-o-g for real. A month ago I jotted down some topics that I could write about, I've been bookmarking links like a fiend that people tweet on a variety of topics that I can comment on, and I'm 12 days behind on the blogging challenge I signed up for!

* TV/Video/Media (I'm such a tv junkie why not post a thought or two on the shows I watch throughout the week. Additionally, since video is my career I should do research on the topic and post something related to it at least once a week.)

* Operation Nice (I've been following this blog since it October and I've never completed a Nice Assignment.)

*Unemployment (Today marks two months of unemployment for me. I need to find inspiration from others, share great new links, and comment on the job hunt.)

*New York (I live in an amazing city. What's out there for me to see?)

*Teach For America (On Monday I will know if I've been accepted or not. I'm holding my breath!)

*Social Networking (How am I working to build my online brand? Have I followed anyone new on twitter that I should share? Have I improved on my blogging regularity and started commenting on others?)

*Create Something (I need to start stimulating my brain in a variety of ways)

I was doing a little web surfing/job hunting and someone, NPR I think, had run the President's "Address to Congress" through Woordle. So, of course, I spent the next couple of minutes running different things through it, my cover letter, other people's blogs, and then my own. What I found is that I write JUST a lot! I couldn't quite believe it at first and and I went through and counted the number of times I've typed just in my short time blogging. Can you believe it, 18 times in just 11 blogs!!?



Everything else just pales in comparison. (posted and comments appear larger also because I just copied all)

Twitter

I'm totally sucked in by the phenomenon that is Twitter.

Maybe it will help me be a better blogger because I can tweet something as I think of it and then come back and write about it further.

But there's a good chance I'll get twitterreah (http://tinyurl.com/bygwcg) stop me if I do.

So I've been putting of getting a more grown up email address for a while, as well as the inevitable switch to gmail. Here it finally is, of course I've put it off so long that I couldn't get either of the address I really wanted, kate711 or katerees. So there was a merging of the two and wallah, katerees711.

Of course, with a new email address should come a new blog. I also ran into a wall with taking y first choice of addresses, thank goodness for that 711 for being my back up. One that I might actually write in. It's not as if I have a lack of things to mindlessly post about... as you will hopefully see in the coming days!
